Norway is a signatory to the 1995 Schengen Agreement.
Passports (except for visa holders) must be valid for the duration of your stay in Norway by all nationals referred to in the chart above, except EU nationals (1) holding a valid national ID card. EU nationals holding a valid national ID card may be required to present a valid passport in addition to a national ID card; they should contact the embassy to check.
Visas are not required by nationals referred to in the chart above for stays in Norway of up to 90 days. Nationals not referred to are advised to contact the embassy to check visa requirements.

On 25 March 2001 Norway became a signatory to the 1995 Schengen Agreement and is subject to the same rules, agreements and visa requirements as the rest of the Schengen group.
Citizens of EU countries including the UK and Ireland do not require any type of visa to visit the country. Norwegian visas available to citizens originating from countries outside the EU include a 90 day visitor’s visa, work, student, family, medical, performing artists’ visas and a visa for exceptional circumstances, including for emergency purposes or on humanitarian grounds. Norway has visa exemption agreements for stays of up to 90 days for travellers coming from the USA, Canada, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. See www.udi.no for more information.

Travellers from non-EU countries who are planning to stay beyond the 90 day limit allowed for visitors should apply to the Norwegian Embassy in their home country.
