Getting to and from the airport (Buenos Aires)

Getting to and from the airport, Ezeiza

Buenos Aires international airport, Ezeiza, is located 32 miles southwest of the city center.  If you don’t have any local currency, then make sure you pass by an ATM machine before exiting the airport. Top tip: Withdraw odd amounts of Argentina pesos to avoid receiving all your cash in hundred peso bills, which are difficult to use for small purchases, on buses or in taxis. 1 US dollar is approximately 3.98 Argentina pesos at the December 2010 exchange rate. It’s also important to note that prices tend to frequently fluctuate in BA, so costs mentioned in this article are for your guidance only.

Unfortunately, there are no rail options to reach downtown, and bus rides (although cheap) can be long and complicated. You can get downtown via a minibus run by Manuel Tienda Leon, which costs ARS172. Alternatively, a taxi ride will cost about ARS150 - 200 for the 60-minute ride from Ezeiza to the Microcentro, but is not always as dependable or safe as car services. You can book a car service from a desk beside the Customs exit with rates starting at ARS150 to reach downtown.
