Santiago's gastronomic scene has undergone a revival, and hungry diners can expect to find dozens upon dozens of innovative restaurants that serve updated Chilean cuisine, as well as, a range of ethnic food. Santiago's downtown caters to business persons, and most restaurants are open for lunch only. It is possible to eat quite cheaply in the downtown area; most restaurants have a menú del día or menú ejecutivo, a fixed-price lunch for $4 to $7 that includes an appetizer, main course, beverage or wine, coffee, and dessert. Bellavista is perhaps the most popular gastronomic center. This artistic and intellectual haven has bred a mind-boggling number of hip restaurants, from Chilean to Cuban to Mediterranean. You really might just stroll the streets until something strikes your fancy.

Europeo: Rated one of the best restaurants in Santiago, Europeo features chef and owner Carlos Anwandier, who prepares delicious French-based dishes with an Italian gourmet flare. The atmosphere is understated elegance, and the menu offers a seasonal selection of delectable appetizers and entrees. There is also a wide selection of Chilean and international wines from which to choose. Located at Alonso de Cordova 2417 – Santiago.Como Aqua Para Chocolate: Located in the Bellavista area of Santiago, the venue offers a typical Chilean atmosphere with lots of wooden tables and chairs, with a balcony overlooking the dining room below and a fountain amongst the tables. It’s named after the Spanish book and movie (in English “Like Water for Chocolate). On the menu you’ll find something for every palette, from fish to lamb chops, all served Chilean style. Located at Constitución 88 – Santiago.
